  • James Cobo

    Co-founder of CoboBrothers Dance Co (CBDC), James Cobo has been teaching salsa On2 since late 2000.

    As part of the CoboBrothers Dance Co, James Cobo has performed show cases and taught workshops at Salsa Dance Festivals and Congress in different parts across the USA, Europe, Asia and Oceana since 2001.

    With the intention to continue his dance development, James trained with Iroko, directed by Ernesto Bulnes and Denisse Cambria, from early 2018 through the end of 2019 and is currently under the tutelage of Marisol Blanco, an internationally renowned Afro-Cuban instructor.

    James Cobo is the co-choreographer of Raleigh Little Theatre production of In the Heights 22’.

  • Peiwei 'Lilou' Cobo

    Born in China, Peiwei was trained in rhythmic gymnastics for +10yrs. She also has an +14yrs of extensive musical background that had earned her national piano competition top 3 medalists positions numerous times. She then encountered her love for Bboying (breakdance), commercial hip-hop, street & heels jazz while moving to France then USA. Within her first year in the States, she danced with several NC State dance groups including Fusion Dance Crew, Break-Fast Club.

    She started dancing with CoboBrothers Dance Co. in 2016, and is currently the co-director & choreographer of the company.

    She is the 1st place World Champion in the SUMMIT Championship, Miami 23’, Professional Salsa Ladies Solo, the SalsaNama Atlanta Champion, Las Vegas SalsaNama Finalist & Ultimate Latin Dance Championship Professional Ladies Solo Finalist. She trained extensively with multi World Champion in Salsa Cabaret Ernesto & Denisse, their dance company Irôko, who are also multi world champions, in New York City.

    She is a Master Student of Afro-Cuabn dance coached by master teacher Marisol Blanco, Superior Institute of Arts Graduate in Cuba.

    Currently dancing Ballet, Jazz & Contemporary at NC Dance Institute under the direction of Ms. Kirstie Spadie. She is also a certified 200YTT yoga teacher.

    Peiwei Cobo is the lead choreographer of In the Heights production of Raleigh Little Theatre 22’.

Instructors

  • Amber Cadwell Ganey

    Born and raised in Florida and upstate NY.

    Amber trained from the ages of 6-22 in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary. Introduced to Salsa in 2002, she continued learning, training, and performing in her newly found passion.

    Amber started dancing salsa first with A&E Dance Company under the direction of Eduardo Diaz and then with Pasofino Dance Company under the direction of Jose Maldonado and Lucy Lu. During this time, she traveled all over the southeast performing at salsa congresses and festivals.

    In 2009, Amber joined Cobo Brothers Dance Company under the direction of Milton and James Cobo, Erin Leger, and Isabel Freiberger. She continued her training, as well as performed and taught with the company as a Semi-Pro member.

    From 2018-2020, Amber was also the director of the world-wide Isa Dance Project in Raleigh, NC, under the ownership of Isabel Freiberger, a world-renowned salsa champion, currently residing in NYC.

    Currently, Amber is teaching classes with Cobo Brothers Dance Company as well as training and performing with Moore Mambo worldwide semi pro ladies team under the direction of Stephany Moore in NYC.

  • Diana Williams

    Diana started salsa dancing in the summer of 2021 through the Cobo Brothers Dance Co. Salsa Semesters. She quickly fell in love with the music and the movement, leading her to audition for the Cobo Brothers Student Team one year later, in the summer of 2022. Diana has a background in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and latin ballroom dance, but now primarily dances on2 salsa. Outside of dance, she’s a public policy master's student at UNC Chapel Hill and a cat mom. She’s grateful to have the opportunity to teach other students in the area as she continues to learn and grow in the company as well.

  • Susan Mykalcio

    Susan Mykalcio is an IT events project manager at Cisco Systems in RTP. She works to share internal Cisco IT stories with customers through various programs at globally hosted Cisco conferences. Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration IT at North Carolina State University in 2016 as well as a minor in Chinese Studies and Art + Design. Susan started choreography-based dance training in college with Fusion Dance Crew. Post-graduation, she explored the hip-hop and freestyle community and was on Staff for PRSM Dance, hosting monthly workshops. In 2018, Susan fell in love with the Afro-Latin dance scene. Her interest in a variety of rhythms; salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, made her an avid social dancer. In mid-2019 she started training in salsa, first with Mambo Dinamico for a semester, then with the Cobo Brothers Dance Company in 2020 where she has been training hard ever since.

  • Kevin Ramirez

    Kevin moved to the Triangle in 2019 and works as a hardware engineer at Microsoft. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford in 2018. Kevin is Nicaraguan and has grown up listening and dancing to salsa, but began taking lessons in highschool and continued training in college. While on his collegiate team, he competed in the College Salsa Congress from 2015-2017 against other California college based teams. He started training with Cobo Brothers Dance Company in 2020 and has since found a place on the team as both TA and performer.

  • Nastia Belikov

    Born in upstate NY, Nastia trained in figure skating for 10+ years. While in grad school to become a physical therapist, she picked up Salsa classes on1. Since moving to NC in late 2019 she has danced Salsa on2 with Cobo Brothers Dance Co, and continues to train on their team. She currently runs her own Physical Therapy clinic in Durham. In her spare time she likes to cook and read.
